Student Spotlight: Kendall Brekken
Location: Scandinavia (Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden)
Where did you go abroad and when did you go?
“Scandinavia (Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden) Spring Break 2019 with my LANG 380 class taught by Melissa Gjellstad”
Why did you go abroad?
“I absolutely love traveling, and have always been interested in the Scandinavian countries. I also have a lot of Scandinavian heritage, so I was excited to be able to learn more about the countries and their histories! If it weren’t for the pandemic, I would’ve spent all of Summer 2020 at the University of Oslo in Norway.”
What advice do you have to give to anyone who is thinking about going abroad?
“Going abroad was one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career. I’d recommend that anyone who has that opportunity to take it! You never know, this might be one of the few chances you have to travel, so make the most of it. Try new things, meet new people, get yourself out of your comfort zone! You’ll gain a new perspective and appreciation for other people and places that you might not have if you didn’t go abroad.”
